Being a medical school in Curacao is an exciting time! On June 20, 2023, the Curaçao news site Curaçao Chronicle published a press release informing readers that the Curaçao government freshly signed a Memorandum of Kind with the Caribbean Accreditation Board for the Education of Medicine and Other Health Professions (CAAM-HP).

CAAM-HP, as an authorized accreditation body, separates an accredited Caribbean medical school from a non-accredited Caribbean medical school. In addition, the accreditation confirms that the medical school has been extensively evaluated and is operating at the highest level of industry standards. The signing of this agreement allows CAAM-HP to act as an accreditation body for international universities on the island of Curaçao.

The signing took place on the campus of the accredited Caribbean medical school, Avalon University School of Medicine, in the presence of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Curaçao and the interim Minister of Public Health, the “Environment and Nature” University of Avalon: Board Members and Medical Dignitaries, Secretary General of MSEKD Curaçao and Inspector General of Public Health.
