Best Acne Treatments for Teens: I used to have teenage acne on my forehead, nose, chin, and back when I was in high school. It was crippling, and I remained embarrassed. I now have a teenage son, and some issues also affect him.
We are rendering to the University of California at Davis. Up to 85 percent of teenagers experience acne at some point in their lives due to hormonal changes. So naturally, we want to help our children as parents, but sometimes we don’t have the answers and need to talk to people who do. That’s why I spoke to a few dermatologists to find out what I could do about teen acne.

What do Experts have to Say?
Every Dermatologist I spoke with stressed that not every treatment would be effective for everyone. Skin is the main organ in the body and is highly temperamental and unique to each individual. It may take several remedies (or more) before something works, and it may never happen with only over-the-counter medications. If your teen’s acne is stubborn, resistant to treatment, or painful, it’s time to see a doctor.
According to Dermatologist Dr Courtney Rubin, M.D. Beauty, starting with OTC teen acne products, is the way to go if your child has mild acne. “The finest over-the-counter acne products typically contain benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, or retinoids,” she tells Best Products. These ingredients aid in the fight against acne-causing bacteria and clearing the skin. remove clogged pores and excess oil.” In general, topical acne treatments must be used consistently (i.e., every day) for 4 to 6 weeks before determining whether or not they are effective.
Cleaning Your Skin
Where do you even begin? Which do you pick first? According to Dr Michele Koo of Private Practice by Dr Koo, while you may remain tempted to target the harshest products, this is not the best approach.
“The key is to use a kind cleanser that is appropriate for the level of sebum production (oiliness),” she says. She also advises you to find the right cleanser for your level of oiliness. If you only have oil and blemishes in your T-Zone, wash it twice a day; otherwise, wash it once a day.
Only use your face at night. About areas of the face, such as the forehead, nose, and chin, may produce thicker sebum, necessitating more attention and cleansing. Rubin recommends a cleanser containing at least 4% benzoyl peroxide for persistent or stubborn acne. “Benzoyl peroxide cleansers are also great treatments to use on the body if you have chest or back acne,” she adds. However, keep in mind that benzoyl peroxide can bleach your towels!
Prevention and Treatment
After cleansing, Koo and Rubin both suggest that retinol can help dry up the acne-prone areas but caution teens and their parents not to overdo it: Retinoids are potent medications that can be extremely harsh. Koo emphasizes the importance of using a moisturizer even on oily, acne-prone skin. Koo recommends a water-based moisturizer for oily skin, but something with humectants that balance the skin for dry skin.
Conclusion:
Dove Beauty Bar Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel Cleanser La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel Cleanser CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal Zeichner recommends this acne spot treatment, emphasizing the efficacy of sulfur in acne products.
